AWARENESS AND FUNDRAISING COLLATERAL
100 Beds for Haiti, New York, NY

The 100 Beds for Haiti Campaign was made up of individuals and grassroots organizations dedicated to the simple purpose of donating hospital beds to the Sacré Coeur Hospital in Northern Haiti after the earthquake in 2010.  The January earthquake killed 230,000 Haitians, turned one million homeless and left between two and six thousand disabled. Six months later many of Sacre Coeur’s patients were still sleeping on cots and mats on the floor.

TYTHEdesign’s goal with this campaign was both to help 100 Beds for Haiti collect donations of recycled hospital beds for Sacré Coeur and to spread awareness about the ongoing aid needs. An earthquake occurs in the span of a few minutes, but the impact is far-reaching and long-lasting. By creating an awareness campaign, we were able to help the client spread awareness about the needs of the community, and through received donations improve the overall condition for Sacré Coeur patients. Because the donated beds were recycled from facilities in the U.S. who would sent them to the landfill, the campaign was both environmentally and socially sensible.

We designed print collateral for a fundraising event including posters, mailers, event registration materials, business cards and an adapted event logo as well as online announcements and releases. This event, which was to raise funds to send the final 30 beds of their original 100 bed target to Sacré Coeur, had the burden of stimulating concern about continuing poor conditions Haiti six months after the earthquake, after news media and the American public had turned their attention elsewhere. The fundraising event raised more than the funding goal.
