ACTIVITY CARDS FOR SUSTAINABLITY WORKSHOP

Cleargreen Advisors (CGA) is a sustainable consulting firm based out of Boulder Colorado. They work with both small and mega large corporations to weave sustainability into their business practices. CGA provides strategic and operational sustainability for retail suppliers, manufacturers and distributors.
One of our projects with Cleargreen Advisors was to design a set of 50 activity cards called “SPARK’. The set of cards are to be used during brainstorming and strategic sessions with their clients, guiding them through the full cycle of sustainability from the initial design specification, sourcing, manufacturing, transportation, use and end of life. Each card contains a case study of an existing organization, possible new ways to look at the changes and a conversation-starting question. For many of CGA’s clients, sustainability is a new concept and it can be hard to know where and how to start. These cards provide CGA an activity to get the clients thinking, seeing the possibilities through other companies, and hopefully identifying areas to start.
We worked with CGA to create the overall visual identity, color scheme and usability. It was important that these cards were straightforward to digest by the clients and also easy to use and organize by the facilitator. We opted for a set of six colors, one for each section of the lifecycle that came from the existing CGA logo. Keeping in line with both TYTHEdesign’s and Cleargreen Advisors’ goal for sustainability we opted for lighter amounts of ink to cut environmental and printing costs. We also designed the cards to be either professionally printed and/or printed on 8.5” by 11” paper both to avoid paper waste from bleed trimming, and so that the organization could print it themselves on a standard printer as needed.
