CONFERENCE COLLATERAL
TEDxBrooklyn, Brooklyn, NY
TYTHEdesign was hired to create an overall visual print identity for the TEDx Brooklyn event held November 13th 2010 at the Pratt Institute. TEDx are independently organized events based on the TED conference held each year in Long Beach, California. TED is dedicated to sharing knowledge, innovation and "ideas worth spreading", and takes the format of short talks given by leading thinkers across all fields. TEDx Brooklyn was organized this year to showcase innovative and creative New York speakers, music, art, and technology and discuss collaborative, community-based problem solving. One of our favorite speakers at the event was Dr. Prabhjot Singh, who talked about the mobilization and empowerment of community health systems across different scales, from Brooklyn to Sub-Saharan Africa.
Our work was to identify an appropriate visual identity based on the spirit of the event, location and the vision of the organizers. We designed print collateral featured on the t-shirts, programs, business cards, name badges and thank you cards. We always look for ways to improve the environmental impact of our work, so we created clean designs that use low quantities of ink and do not have bleeds. Bleeds mean that the ink in a print design stretches to the edge of the paper, which is achieved by printing on larger sheets and trimming the edges to the desired size. By designing without bleeds we reduce large amounts of paper waste and cut printing costs for the client.
